Slovakia issues statement on 9/11 anniversary

SLOVAKIA has always regarded the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington as attacks not only on the United States of America, but, above all, on the democratic values that the entire civilized world shares, read a Foreign Ministry statement on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States.

According to the statement "the Slovak Republic has repeatedly confirmed its commitment to participate actively in all areas of the struggle against international terrorism. Slovakia will coordinate its steps with its partners at the strategic as well as the operational level.

"As a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Slovakia supports the adoption of the General Resolution on Terrorism with a general definition of terrorism. At the same time, Slovakia advocates the ratification of all international resolutions focused on preventing and combating terrorism by all states."

Furthermore, Slovakia has been contributing actively to the global counter-terrorism effort through its participation in international military and police missions in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, and other countries, the statement said.
