Swedish and Korean investors interested in Rimavská Sobota

SOUTH Korean and Swedish investors are interested in setting up shop in Rimavská Sobota (Banská Bystrica region).

The Korean company Sewon ESC, which already has a plant with 300 employees in Lednické Rovne (Trenčín region) producing cable harnesses for the KIA carmaker, is now looking for a location for another car components plant.

"In the area where they're currently operating, around the town of Púchov [in Western Slovakia], they have been having trouble finding employees, so they're looking for a new location where they will have better opportunities to entrench," Rimavská Sobota Mayor Štefan Cifruš said.

In the days to come, town officials will also hold talks with an unnamed Swedish company which has shown interest in investing in the town.

According to Cifruš, after potential German investor Dräxlmayer abandoned its plans and settled in Romania instead, the town has both green and brown field sites available.
