Municipal election campaign ends today

ACCORDING to Slovak law, the campaign prior to Slovakia's December 2 municipal elections ended on Thursday November 30 at 07:00.

On Saturday, Slovak voters will go to the polls to choose new mayors for towns and villages as well as new members of municipal councils.

The Municipal Election Act bans campaigning within 48 hours of voting, while opinion poll results were forbidden as of November 25.

According to the latest poll on voter turnout, only around 40 percent of registered voters were planning to take part in the elections. Four years ago the turnout was 49 percent.
