SMK adopts political strategy for coming years

THE NATIONAL board of the opposition Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) met on February 3 to adopt a strategy for the upcoming period. The party will strengthen its internal structure and its role within the opposition, and closely support its mayors in towns and villages across mainly southern Slovakia.

The SMK also plans to intensify cooperation with other opposition parties.

SMK Chairman Béla Bugár repeated his claim that the ruling Smer party won last year’s general elections with a combination of lies and promises it did not intend to keep, and has continued lying while in power, according to the SITA news wire.

On the other hand, Bugár praised the success of the opposition in preserving the rule allowing companies and individuals to assign two percent of their taxes to NGOs, which the Finance Ministry had wanted to scrap.
