IN THE Words and Pictures Exhibit, The Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava (SNG) introduces David Hockney, one of the most successful contemporary British artists. The display, subtitled Four Print Portfolios (1961-1977), showcases prints from four graphic cycles: illustrations to Hogarth's A Rake's Progress, C. P. Cavafy's Fourteen Poems, illustrations for Six Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm, and a series of prints for The Blue Guitar created as an homage to the Wallace Stevens poem. Hockney, who turned 70 this year, broke the taboos of the 1960s and '70s by depicting people not of heterosexual orientation. The exhibition takes place in the Esterházy Palace at the Ľ. ROMANTIC Bojnice Castle hosts The 14th International Festival of Ghosts and Spirits on the end of April and the beginning of May. The theme for this edition is the last owner of the castle, The Curious Count - The Real Story of Last Romantic, Count Ján František Pállfy. The performance is based on historical fact, telling the story of the art lover and last aristocratic owner of the castle, who gave the castle its current romantic shape. The event is divided into two parts. The first one takes place from April 27 to May 1 and the second follows from May 4 to May 8. There will be no standard historical tours on festival days.
