The number of people on welfare support in Slovakia has been dropping. Compared with 2005, when the average number was 38,500, last year it was only 27,000.

Sociálna Poisťovňa, the public social insurance provider, prepared a budget for this year that provides for an average of 31,100 recipients of unemployment benefits this year.
