Best mask can win prize at Water-sprite Festival

Attractive prizes await the winners of competitions at the 10th International Water-sprite Festival that is due to be held on June 9 in Bratislava's city centre.

"Among other awards, the wearer of the best water-sprite mask can win a trip to the famous Venice carnival or the Munich beer festival in Germany," said Vlado Tomčík of Devínska Brána (Devin Gate), the cultural group that is organizing the event. A competition for the best fish soup will also be part of Saturday's festival.

A pageant headed by Bratislava's famous 800-year-old water-sprite Ferko from the Danube River will parade through the Old Town accompanied by several other masked sprites and water nymphs, drummers and other entertainers.
