Tesco opens its latest Slovak supermarket

Slovakia's newest Tesco is now open in Moldava nad Bodvou in eastern Slovakia.

The joint-stock company Tesco Stores SR opened the supermarket on August 8, the SITA newswire reported.

That brings the total number of Tesco outlets in Slovakia to 52, including five department stores, 37 hypermarkets and, including this latest addition, 10 supermarkets. Tesco also operates 12 petrol stations in Slovakia.

Tesco spokeswoman Oľga Hrnčiarová told the SITA newswire that the new supermarket would employ 21 people.

"This retail outlet follows a well-proven small format with a retail area of 1,000 square metres, which Tesco started to build last year throughout Slovakia in towns with a population of up to 10,000," Hrnčiarová said.
