US president nominates new ambassador

US PRESIDENT George W. Bush has nominated Vincent Obsitnik, a businessman with roots in eastern Slovakia, to be the next US Ambassador to the Slovak Republic.

Current Ambassador Rodolphe M. Vallee, who has been in the post since August 2005, will lead the US Embassy in Bratislava until the US Senate confirms Obsitnik's nomination, the Press Attache of the US Embassy in Bratislava, Keith Hughes, told SITA on September 9.
