Bratislava Cat Show presents new breed

More than 500 cats took part in the International Cat Show that taking place at the Dom Kultúry (House of Culture) in the Bratislava borough of Ružinov on September 15 and 16.

"We also have a newly-accredited breed, the Kuril Bobtail,” Helena Poláčková from the Basic Cat Breeding organization said. “It's a cat with a short tail that was bred from natural breeds such as wild cats."

The cats competed in four categories. Exotic and Persian (long-haired), medium-haired, short-haired, and Oriental cats, said Poláčková, adding that domestic cats without a pedigree had a category of their own.

The show’s jury included experts from Italy, Austria and Poland. It attracted owners from Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Latvia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. TASR
