Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič presented outgoing US Ambassador Rodolphe Vallee with the Double White Cross Order Second Class on November 8, in gratitude for the work he has done to benefit Slovakia.
Gašparovič said the ambassador has personally promoted the development of relations between the US and Slovakia, contributing to a positive American view of Slovakia's foreign policy and the country's addition to the UN Security Council, NATO and the EU.
Vallee, who was appointed ambassador in 2006, praised the character of Slovaks and the country's natural beauty. He expressed his pleasure at the progress made in talks on abolishing the visa requirement for Slovak citizens visiting the US.
