The organisers of First Tuesday Bratislava, an IT social club, invite you to this month's gathering February 6 at 18:30 in the Congress Hall of the Slovenská sporiteľňa (Slovak Savings Bank - SLSP) building on Zahradnícka 95. The evening's topic will be 'Advertising on the Internet' as discussed by experts of the @d club, an Internet advertisement services firm. Admission is free for registered participants. American Embassy Exhibition

The US Embassy and the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava invite you to a gala opening of the Andy Warhol exhibition at 17:00 on February 6. The exhibition will feature Warhol's art and glimpses of his life in Esterházy Palace of Slovenská národná galéria (Slovak National Gallery) on Námestie Ľudovíta Štúra 4. German and Austrian Institute Lecture

The Goethe Institute, in coopertation with the Austrian Culture Centre, invite you to a lecture entitled "Women in the European Union - education and labour market" by German Barbara Helfferich. The lecture will begin at 17:00 on Monday, February 5 in Mozart hall of the Austrian Embassy on Ventúrska 10.


Puppet Performance and Exhibitions

The Bratislava puppet theatre Theatro Neline will perform the romantic-musical fairy tale 'Rosamunda', originally an opera by the Viennese composer Franz Schubert. The play begins at 18:00 on February 9, at Štátne bábkové divadlo (State puppet theatre) on Dunajská 36. Tel: 5292 3668.
The 'Thought Line' exhibition, featuring jewellery made by young Slovak and Austrian artists, runs at the Austrian Culture Centre on Zelená 7 till the end of February. Tel: 5443 2985.
Also, the Austrian Culture Centre is holding a photo exhibition entitled "Vergessener Völker Müdigkeiten" (The Tiredness of Forgotten Nations) in Mozart Hall of the Austrian Embassy on Ventúrska 10. Featuring photographs of Jewish cemeteries taken by Austrian artists Christoph Lingg and Susanne Schaber, the exhibition is situated in Múzeum židovskej kultúry (Museum of Jewish Culture) on Židovská 17. Tel: 5441 8507. The exhibition runs till March 10.
The Austrian Culture Centre with Docomomo Slovakia (Documentation and Conservation of the Modern Movement) is holding an exhibition of Christian Ludwig Attersee. Born in Slovakia, Attersee is considered to be one of the founders of the 'New Paintings' style in central Europe and is the most successful contemporary Austrian painter. The exhibition will take place in Slovenská národná galéria (Slovak National Gallery) on Riečna 1 and will end on February 28, 2001. Tel: 5443 2985.


French Institute exhibitions

"Game of a Viewpoint" is a photographic collection of European theatres and their attractive interiors built in the Italian style. The exhibition will be held in Slovenské národné divadlo (Slovak National Theatre) on Hviezdoslavovo námestie 1, till February 25.
An exhibition of the artist Ester Šimerová-Martinčeková entitled 'Cameos on Saint-John Persea's Poems', organised by the French Institute, features semiprecious cut stones with carved reliefs on a background visualising Persea's poems. Šimerová-Martinčeková, a sculptor and painter influenced by cubism and surrealism, was born in Bratislava in 1909. The exhibition runs in the Institute's Gallery on Sedlárska 7, till February 12, 2001. Tel: 5934 7777.


Goethe Institute Exhibitions

The German Culture Institute is holding an exhibition of the works of Albrecht Dürer, the most significant German graphic artist. The exhibition, featuring Dürer's famous xylographs and copperplates, also exhibits the works of his contemporaries. The exhibition takes place at Mirbachov Palace on Františkánske námestie 11 and runs till March 18. Tel: 5443 1556.
Also, the Goethe Institute is hosting a photo exhibition of Slovak Jana Vasiliaková's work entitled 'Photography', displaying photographs taken during her wanderings in nature. The exhibition is situated at the Goethe Institute on Panenská 33 till the end of February. Tel: 5443 3130.
