Italian Institute's film festival

The Italian Culture Institute in Bratislava invites you to see "Il Ciclone" (The Cyclone) by Leonardo Pieraccioni, another movie from the Festival of 1990's Italian Film. The movie tells the story of the Quarians, a Tuscan family whose life is completely turned round after a group of Spanish female dancers invades the family circle and interferes with its customs and opinions. March Hash Run

Austrian Embassy Exhibitions

The Austrian Embassy in Bratislava will open an exhibit of six Weinviertel region artists as well as six artists from Slovakia's Záhorie region, entitled From One And The Other Side. The exhibition will feature paintings, graphics, photographs, plastics and ceramics influenced by the land, environment and mutual ties. Exhibition opens at 18:00 on Thursday, March 1 at the Austrian Culture Centre on Zelená 7, and will run till the end of March. Tel: 5443 2985.
A photo exhibition entitled Vergessener Völker Müdigkeiten (Tiredness of Forgotten Nations) features photographs of Jewish cemeteries taken by Austrian artists Christoph Lingg and Susanne Schaber. Exhibition runs till March 10 in Múzeum židovskej kultúry (Museum of Jewish Culture) on Židovská 17 and in Mozart Hall of the Austrian Embassy on Ventúrska 10. Tel: 5441 8507.


French Institute lecture and exhibition

The French Institute in Bratislava will host Michel Maffestoli, who will give a lecture entitled Archaisms and Every-Day Life. February 27 at Univerzita Komenského (Commenius University), Room # 1 on Šafárikovo námestie at 11:00. Tel: 5934 7777.
The photo exhibition The Most Beautiful Day of My Youth is a selection of snapshots taken by 2,000 young people from 20 different countries with disposable cameras on the Youth Holiday organised by Bernard Faucon. Runs till March 6 at the French Institute Gallery on Sedlárska 7. Tel: 5934 7777.


Goethe Institute Presentation and Exhibitions

The Goethe Institute in Bratislava will open an exhibition of German architect Hans Michael Foldeak entitled Projekt fur Pressburg (Project for Bratislava) - Pribinova Street 2002-2010. The opening is at 17:00 on Thursday, March 1, at the Gallery of Spolok architektov Slovenska (Union of Slovak Architects) on Panská 15. Exhibition runs till March 24. Tel: 5443 3130.
In cooperation with the Domowina Union, Serbian Matica in Budyšín and the World Literature Revue magazine, the Goethe Institute will hold an informative evening about the life of Lužice's Serbs entitled Presentation of the Newest Lužicko-Serbian anthology since the year 1989/1990, given by representatives of the mentioned institutes. The German Culture Institute presents the works of German graphic artist Albrecht Dürer. The exhibition features Dürer's famous xylographs and copperplates as well as the works of his contemporaries. Runs till March 18 at Mirbachov Palace on Františkánske námestie 11. Tel: 5443 3130.
The Goethe Institute is hosting a photo exhibition of Slovak Jana Vasiliaková's work entitled 'Photography', displaying photographs taken during her wanderings in nature. Runs till March 12 at the Goethe Institute on Panenská 33 till the end of February. Tel: 5443 3130.
