Agnieszka Holland's films in English

Polish director Agnieszka Holland comes to Bratislava to present nine of her films May 24 to 27. Three of the films will be shown in English: Total Eclipse, a film depicting the fates of two poets and staring Leondardo Di Caprio (May 25); The Third Miracle, the tale of a statue which cries healing tears of blood (May 26); and Washington Square, the story of a rich farmer's daughter faced with a decision that will alter her life (May 27). Bratislava Women's club exhibition

"Converging", an exhibition that introduces arts and crafts made by the members of the International Women's Club from various countries around the world, runs daily 10:00 to 18:00 at the Národné osvetové centrum (National Education Centre) on Námestie SNP 12 till May 28. Tel: 5921 4111.


British Wine and Cheese evening

Goethe Institute exhibition

Dance Theatre Today - 30 Years of German Dancing is an exhibition of more than 60 photographs capturing scenes of German dance groups and artists from the past 30 years. At Aréna Theatre on Viedenská cesta 10 in Petržalka till May 27. Tel: 6225 0013.


Austrian Culture Forum lecture

Helmuth Furch from Vienna will give a lecture entitled The Emperors' Stone on a precious marble that is mined in the Austrian region of Kaisersteinbruch. French Institute concert and exhibitions

The exhibition Art Nouveau Posters in Paris, featuring posters designed by nouveau artists like Alfonz Mucha from the beginning of the 20th century, runs at Pálffy Palace on Panská 19 in Bratislava till June 10. Tel: 5934 7777.


Social Centre in Piešťany

The Spring Dance Festival at the Congress Hall on Kúpeľný ostrov in Piešťany will host the Bratislava Dance Theatre and its modern dance performance The XY files on May 21. The Slovak folk dance group SĽUK will perform The Tree on May 26 and 27. All shows begin at 19:30. Tel: 0838-775 2150.


Austrian Culture Centre exhibition in Prešov

The exhibition Fatigue of Forgotten Nations, featuring pictures of Jewish cemeteries in the former Habsburg lands, runs till May 23 at Šarišská galéria (Šariš gallery) on Hlavná 51 in the eastern Slovak city of Prešov. Tel: 091 772 5423.


Bratislava Town Gallery

Jan and Meda Mládek's collection of František Kupka and Otto Gutfreund's paintings, which was first displayed in Washington and other cities around the world, comes to Bratislava. A graphic painter and illustrator (1871-1957), Kupka is one of the founders of abstract art. The exhibition runs daily except Mon 10:00-18:00 till June 10, at Pálffy Palace on Panská 19. Spanish exhibition at Danubiana
