The Kingdom of Spain's Flamenco Festival

The third annual Pena Flamenco Festival 'La Passion' will begin on November 20 and continue for five afternoons till November 25. It will offer various flamenco music courses ranging from dance creations, video-projections, flamenco seminars and meetings to guitar lessons. On November 24, dance group Flamenco Cortemporaneo will present their new performance "L' Amore Brujo". The event will culminate at 19:00 on November 25 with a Gala Evening with flamenco stars Martin Bies & L Flamenco Clan, LA Lagrima, Franco de Nerja, Eva Cavrera and Dario Arboleda. Italian Film Festival

The Italian Embassy and Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava present the Italian film "Selective Relationships", by Paolo and Vittorio Tavianio in Mladosť cinema. The movie will be shown at 20:00 on November 23. Tickets: 40 Sk. At Mladosť cinema on Hviezdoslavovo námestie 14. Tel: 5443 5003.


Skating rink

The Bratislava Old Town Council will install a public skating-rink during the first weekend when weather permits after November 25. The rink will be 20 by 40 metres. Admission free. At Hviezdoslavovo námestie.


Music at the French Institute

The chamber orchestra Mimeza will hold a concert "Music of the 17th and 18th century" at 18:00 on November 21 at the French Institute's Gallery on Sedlárska 7.
Also at its Gallery, the French Institute is holding a photo exhibition of French photographers entitled "New Fashion Photography." The exhibition, part of the 'Month Of Photography', brings together artists whose photographs have already been published for magazines they work for, such as Crash, Purple, Jalouse and Elle. Welcome Understanding

The Association for Art and Communication in co-operation with The German Marshall Fund of the US in Bratislava and the Slovak Embassy in Yugoslavia will organise an exhibition of Yugoslav contemporary art entitled 'Welcome Understanding'. Diversified and colourful works of 17 artists, mostly paintings and drawings, depict every day life in Yugoslavia. At Zámocká ulica 6 (behind the Chez David Restaurant), in an old, derelict building. Exhibition runs till December 12. Tel: 5441 7212.


Goethe Institute Exhibitions

German artist Wilfried Saur presents his interpretations through various artistic forms of writer Franz Kafka's works at Slovenská národná muzeum (Slovak National Museum) on Vajanského nábrežie 2. Open daily except Mon 9:00-17:00. Tel: 5934 9141. Exhibition runs till December 13.
Also, photographs of August Sander (1876-1964), one of the most significant German photographers of the 20th century, can be seen at Slovenská národná galéria (Slovak National Gallery) in a presentation called 'People of the 20th Century'. The exhibition, part of the 'Month Of Photography', sits in the Slovak National Gallery on Vodné kasárne, Rázusovo nábrežie 2 and runs till November 30. Tel: 5443 4587.


Bratislava Zen Centre

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 18:30 to 20:00, the Slovak Zen Buddhism school Kuan Um in Bratislava invites beginners as well as long-term students to practice and learn about Zen Buddhism. Those interested can attend the meetings at Ľudovíta Fullu 58/22. To get there, take bus #32 from the Main Train Station till the end of the line, get off and walk down Beniakova street to Ľudovíta Fullu street. Or take trams #1, 5, 9, or 12 from the centre in the direction of Karlova Ves, get off at the Nad Lúkami bus stop and go up the hill to Ľudovíta Fullu street. American Thanksgiving service

The International Church of Bratislava invites all American expats as well as others interested to attend a traditional American Thanksgiving service at 18:30 on Wednesday evening, November 22. The service will take place at Malý Kostol (Little Church), located at the intersection of streets Panenská and Lýcejná, not far from the Hotel Fůrum in central Bratislava. Bahá'í Community's celebration

You are invited to a dance performance by the Diversity Dance Theater from Germany, a multiracial, multicultural group of people carrying a message of positive values and friendship through their anti-drug, anti-racism, equality and friendship dances, at 18:00 on November 25 at Zrkadlový háj in Petržalka.
