Bratislava region producing one third of country's GDP

The Bratislava region - one of eight in the country - generated 23.6% of Slovakia's total GDP last year, and enjoyed an average salary that was almost 30% higher than the national average, reported the Bratislava Region state office July 8.

The region, which has attracted the lion's share of foreign investment into Slovakia, has a living standard at 99% of the European Union average, statistics from the EU have shown. Living standards in many other parts of the country fail to reach 50% of the average in the Union.
