Fízik named advisor to the Interior Minister

Ladislav Fízik, the leader of the Roma Initiative political party, was named external advisor to Interior Minister Ivan Šimko for issues concerning national minorities and ethnic groups. After being appointed to the post August 15, Fízik said that his main objective was to achieve a decrease in crime.

Fízik said that he would also work to eliminate the practice of Slovak police whereby criminal reports identify the ethnicity of the accused. Announcing a crime with the information that the culprit was a Roma only elevates tension, he said.
