Hypermarket arrival in Slovakia gathering pace

According to the plans of retail chains, another six hypermarkets should open in Slovakia before the end of 2001, bringing the country's total number of large supermarkets to 15.

The expansion of hypermarkets across Slovakia has led to complaints from smaller grocers, who have claimed they are being forced out of business by the larger retail stores' prices.
