Foreign banks control central European banking market

A study done by Bank Austria has revealed that the share of foreign banks in central European banking houses broke 50% for the first time last year, rising to 53% from 43% the year before and 32% in 1998. Foreign banks own 76% of the market in Slovakia, 67% in the Czech Republic and 62% in Hungary.
