Competence bill hits second reading

A bill naming powers to be passed from the central government to regional parliaments entered second reading in the legislature yesterday as MPs agreed to rush through another five related bills in accelerated proceedings. Passage of the bills by September 30 was a key demand made by the ruling coalition Hungarian party (SMK) in late August for remaining in government.
