The Defence Ministers of Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland yesterday agreed to form a regional military brigade to be led by a Slovak general, headquartered in Slovakia and functional by 2005. The move is intended to solidify Slovakia’s claim on an invitation to joint Nato at an alliance summit next year, by showing the country is capable of taking a leadership role in communal defence.
