Milan Dubravský, 40, on September 22 won this year’s Slovak national competition for the longest beard with an effort of 37 centimetres (14 inches), which beat his nearest competitor by one centimetre. Dubravsky said his wife regularly combed and shampooed his beard, which he had been growing for 18 months, and that when he returned from the competition he would shave.
