A senior bureaucrat in the western Trnava region state administration was arrested yesterday after a police sting operation caught him accepting an 80,000 crown ($1,700) bribe and promising to arrange the acceptance of an undercover agent’s son to university. It is the first successful anti-corruption operation of its kind undertaken by the police in Slovakia.
