Fico wants referendum on SPP sale

Robert Fico, head of the non-parliamentary Smer party, has said he intends to introduce to parliament a proposal that a referendum be held on the sale of a 49% stake in the state-owned SPP gas utility. A tender for the stake was called in late August, and the government hopes to have a winner declared by the end of this year.
