September 22 - Shareholders meeting at eastern Slovak steel maker VSŽ confirms Gabriel Eichler as president and upholds the management's restructuring policy.

October 1999 - 45.9% Nafta Gbely stake owned by Vladimír Poór is returned to the National Property Fund.

November 1999 - Slovak government approves the sale of a 51% stake in the state-owned telecom monopoly Slovenské Telekomunikácie, regarded by analysts as the most important privatisation in Slovak history.
