Siemens boss charged with bribery

The managing director of Siemens Business Services has been charged with bribery by a Bratislava regional investigator for offering the head of a public procurement tender commission Sk1.5 million ($31,400) to ensure Siemens was awarded a lucrative contract.

A 1 billion crown tender for supply of an information system for the state treasury was suspended earlier this year after suspicions were voiced over possible corruption. The tender was eventually restarted and won by Hewlett-Packard Austria.
