A survey of political support carried out by the Focus agency has shown the ruling SDKÚ party's support still behind the opposition HZDS and non-parliamentary Smer.

The poll, in which a representative group of 1,063 people from October 2 to 9 were asked who would they vote for if elections were held today, found that 28.1% of respondents would vote for the HZDS, 15.8% for Smer, 10.6% for the coalition SMK Hungarian ethnic party and 9.7% for the strongest coalition grouping, Prime Minister Dzurinda's SDKÚ party.

Also taking more than the 5% support needed to secure parliamentary representation were the opposition SNS (8.2%), the non-parliamentary Ano (5.9%), and the government KDH (5.8%) and SDĽ (5.2%) parties.
