Expats get voting rights

Foreigners with permanent residence visas will have the right to vote to vote in Slovak municipal elections in December 2002, according to a law approved October 11.

According to Deputy Interior Minister Ivan Budiak, the proposal is in keeping with European Union rules. Foreigners will also have the right to vote also in regional elections set for December 1 this year.
