Two arrested after refugees drown

Two Slovaks have been arrested following a botched attempt to smuggle 46 Afghan refugees into Austria.

Peter G., 21, and Zdenka P., 17, were paid Sk46,000 to transport the refugees by rubber raft across the Morava river, north of Bratislava, during the night of November 13. They turned back after the raft began to sink and were apprehended by border police.
