Christmas at ÚĽUV
Slovakia's folklore centre (ÚĽUV) revives traditional Slovak Christmas dances, music and handicrafts three days this week.
Weavers, potters, tinkers and wood carvers will hold public workshops, Christmas straw and lace decorations will be on sale and a folk group will sing carols at the ÚĽUV centre on Obchodná 64. Christmas concert in Prešov

Ambassador's exhibition in Košice
Gabriele Matzner-Holzer exhibits paintings and releases her new book Im Kreuz Europas - Die Unbekannte Slowakei (Unknown Slovakia Through the Eyes of an Austrian) in eastern Slovakia.
In the book, the outgoing Austrian ambassador to Slovakia summarises four years of experiences in Slovakia in an informative and entertaining way. Starts at 15:00 December 13 at Technické múzeum (Technical Museum), Hlavná 88 in Košice. Runs until January 15. Tel: 055/622-4035(6,7).
Austrian Embassy writers' symposium and exhibition
Writers from eastern, southern and central Europe will meet at the symposium Back in Europe, where they will present and discuss their work with audiences.
Readings (in the original languages and translated into Slovak, German and English) begin at 19:00 on December 12 at the Czech Centre on Hviezdoslavovo námestie 8 and at 19:00 on December 13 at Mozartova sieň (Mozart Hall) of the Austrian Embassy, Ventúrska 10.
Actress Elfe Gerhart-Dahlke and school director Herbert Sams capture the wintertime beauty of their Austrian alpine hometown in photographs exhibited at the Austrian Culture Forum, Zelená 7.
