EU goals may be met by summer

Foreign Minister Eduard Kukan said the government is determined to complete its entry negotiations with the European Union by next June, three months before parliamentary elections, to give ruling parties an achievement to campaign on.

He also warned that if negotiations were not closed, approaching elections could cause a prolonged delay in the EU entry process.
