RWE Plus wants power distributors

German company RWE Plus, a member of RWE group, is interested in all three regional power distribution companies in Slovakia up for privatisation, the company has said.

Speaking at a promotional event November 27 RWE Plus board member Klaus Bussfeld said: "We are seriously interested in acquisitions of all the three companies, although we realise we may not succeed in all the tenders."

Bussfeld is convinced that "a good price the company is ready to bid" will play a significant role in tenders, as well as long-term development plans for the ZSE, SSE and VSE power distributors.

Czech power company ČEZ is also planning to put forward bids for the three firms while Germany's Energie Baden-Wirttemberg AG has said it will only bid for ZSE.

Preliminary bids should be submitted in the last week in January and the 49% stakes in all the three power distributors should be sold in the first quarter of 2002.
