Slovak under-21's to face Russia

The Slovak under-21 national squad will play Russia in a home and away series in qualification for the Euro 2000 tournament. The first match will be held in Russia on November 13, with the second leg taking place in Bratislava at Devín Stadium on November 17, the 10th anniversary of the fall of communism in the former Czechoslovak Republic.

The team with the highest aggregate score will advance to the next round of qualifications for the summer 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Slovakia made the second round when they finished first in the group qualifications ahead of Romania, Portugal, Azerbaijan and Hungary. The winner of the Russia - Slovakia series will be one of eight teams to take part in the final Euro-2000 tournament. The top four finishers in Euro-2000 automatically qualify for the Olympics.
