Fico rejects working with Mečiar

Robert Fico, leader of the non-parliamentary Smer party, the country's second most popular, has ruled out working with former PM Vladimír Mečiar.

He said on December 12 he would not consider joining Mečiar in government following September 2002 elections unless he saw evidence of serious reflection by Mečiar on his past wrongdoings.
