French Ambassador optimistic about Helsinki summit

French Ambassador to Slovakia Albert Turot, who will soon end his diplomatic mission, said August 13 that he is very optimistic that the December Helsinki summit of the European Union will lift Slovakia into the EU entry vanguard.

Turot said that the recent Slovak Romany migrations to Finland and Norway should not impede Slovakia's ambitions to enter the EU alongside its neighbors, as long as the Slovak cabinet deals properly with the issue. He stressed that in the sphere of economy, the cabinet has taken courageous steps. He added that France will support Slovakia's EU and NATO ambitions.
