Medium Gallery --'Adolf Frohner - First People-First Love-First Death'. This gallery, run by the Academy of Fine Arts, introduces contemporary works by a well-known Austrian painter. 'The Wonder of the Curve '. The City Gallery presents masterpieces of turn of the century art nouveau with fine furniture, glass and decorative ceramics from Slovakia. Apart from seccession style Slovak works from public collections, the exhibition also shows masterpieces from workshops abroad such as the French Gallé and Hungarian Zsolna. Nova Gallery-- 'Karol Baran: Graphics '. The well-known gallery for Slovak fine art stages this surrealist painter and his series of graphics called "Beštiár" (Beast). Baštová 2, Tel.: 54 43 30 39. Open daily except Mon., 13:00-18:00. Ends July 31.

Pálfy Palace -- 'Emoke Vargová : Portraits'. The gallery presents a series of portraits in the form of relief objects made from textile and artificial transparent material as well those which include the use of a photograph. Critics call Vargová one of the best contemporary Slovak artists. Panská 19, Tel.: 54 43 36 27. Open daily except Mon., 10:00-18:00. Ends September 12.

Slovak National Gallery -- 'Miloš Alexander Bazovský 1899-1968'. Paintings and drawings by Bazovský, an important name in 20th century Slovak modernism. Main gallery building. Ends September 19.

'Paris Bordone: The Portrait of the Lord'. A masterpiece by Tizian's student Paris Bordone (1500-1571) has been restored by Nora Hebertová. Main Gallery building. Ends September 19.

'Textile Jewellery and Object '. The exhibition presents eleven international artists and their jewellery made from textile and metal. Esterházy Palace annex. Ends September 5.

Profil Gallery --'Karol Plicka - The Poet of Picture'. In the 1930's, photographer Karol Plicka discovered for a Czech and Slovak audience the world of Slovak village people with their domestic and working life, their traditional Slovak folk costumes and their children's games. Elektráreň of Tatranská Galéria -- ' The Best Final Photographic Works, '99' . The exhibition presents the winning photographs produced by this sumer school. Hviezdoslavova 12, Poprad. Open daily except 10:00-18:00. Starts July 10.

'Kosovo Refugees '. The exhibition of Slovak press phographers Andrej Bán and Alan Hyža, also at the Elektráreň.
