Lafarge increases stake in Považská cement works to 27%

The French company Lafarge, a world leader in the production of construction materials, has strengthened its position on the Slovak cement market by enlarging its 16% stake in cement maker Považska Cementaren in Ladce to 27%. Philippe Rollier, director of Lafarge's central and eastern Europe division, said that the acquisition was part of the firm's strategy for eastwards expansion.

Lafarge operates in 65 countries worldwide and employs over 66,000 people. Its annual turnover is around 20 billion Deutschmarks.
