The National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) expects a gradual decrease of the fiscal deficit to 2 percent of the gross domestic product by 2005. The central bank writes in its mid-term prognosis that the state budget deficit would be SKK 26 billion and the public finance deficit would stay at SKK 27 billion in 2005.
