Poprad layoffs announced

CENTRAL Slovak wagon-maker Tatravagónka Poprad has said that it is planning to lay off 150 employees at the end of March.

The company has already announced its step to the district labour office in Poprad.

Management is currently taking steps to make the company more competitive despite a recession in the machinery sector, Tatravagónka's unions have said.

The company currently employs 2, 500 people, which makes it one of the biggest employers in Poprad district.
