Jobless set to grow

Some 30 firms in the northern Žilina region have announced mass layoffs planned for February to the Labour Office; 5,000 workers in the region will have lost their jobs between January and July, while around Slovakia 20,000 workers are expected to be laid off this year by firms involved in restructuring.
