Slovakia advances at World Champs

Slovakia advanced to the second round of competition at the World Hockey Championships in Norway on May 5 after crushing the host team 8-2 in a match featuring a hat trick by New York Islanders star Ziggy Palffy. Slovakia opened the first round on May 1 with a gritty 3-2 loss to Canada, but then rebounded on May 3 for a 7-4 thrashing of the Italian team.
