Schmögnerová goes to Geneva

FORMER Finance Minister Brigita Schmögnerová, who was pushed out of her post by her own SDĽ party in January, will as of mid-March take the job of executive secretary of the UN's European Economic Commission. Although ex-SDĽ party mate Peter Weiss says he would prefer Schmögnerová stay in Slovakia and help him with the Slovak Democratic Alternative party the two founded last week, he called Schmögnerová's appointment "the highest international function" Slovakia is likely to get.
