Fourth Annual AmCham Thansgiving Fund-Raising Drive

In the true spirit of Thansgiving, members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia raised 350,000 Slovak crowns for a Slovak charity . Attempting to show support for Slovakia on the community level, AmCham staged its fourth annual Thansgiving Fund-Raising Drive to benefit the Emília Kováčová Foundation, an organisation which seeks to improve the lives of people living in difficult social conditions, to increase the quality of education for children and the younger generation, and to enrich society from the cultural point of view.

All donors were recognised at the annual Thansgiving Gala on November 27 in Reduta Restaurant. The event was attended by 312 people, including members of AmCham, their clients, US Ambassador Ralph Johnson and Slovak political figures such as Deputy Premier Ivan Mikloš and Michal Kováč, the former Slovak President.

Since 1994, AmCham has organised a fund raising drive at Thanksgiving time in an attempt to return something to the Slovak community in which its members live and work. In past years, funds have been raised for The Society of Friends of Orphanges under the Smile as a Gift (Úsmev ako dar) programme, the Slovak Paralympic Committee and The Children of Slovakia Foundation.
