Materák nominated as new STV director

At its November 17 sitting, the control board of the state-run STV public channel nominated Milan Materák for the post of general director. In a secret ballot, seven of the nine members of the STV Council voted for Materák, who announced that in the first phase of his operation he intends to rescue STV as a public institution and prevent it from "falling apart." Materák is currently programme director of the privately owned Rádio Devin.
