Inspectors to visit largest insurer

Tasked by Finance Minister Brigita Schmögnerová, employees of the Finance Ministry started an inspection tour at Slovenská Poisťovňa, the largest Slovak insurance house, on November 9. Inspectors will be checking up on SP's compliance with the insurance law, on the activities of SP's supervisory board, on the creation and use of reserve funds, as well as on the performance and solvency of the insurance company and its stock market activities.

Schmögnerová said the Finance Ministry wants to find a compromise solution to the settlement of personnel questions in state-controlled financial institutions. Concerning Slovenská Poisťovňa, she said, the next shareholders meeting should tackle personnel issues, while the ministry would begin its role with the inspection.
