Industrial wages rise

According to information released by the Slovak Statistical Bureau on October 7, Slovak average nominal wages in industry rose by 9.4% in the January to August period, unchanged from the January to July period. Slovak August retail sales rose by a real 12.1% year-on-year compared with 8.8% in July 1998.
