Horse Whisperer
Traps, traps, traps
Movies series of German film director R.W.Fassbinder

Horse Whisperer *
Zaklínač koní)-USA, 1998

With an imperiled family at its center plus a transparent bias toward all things outdoors, The Horse Whisperer is a big-screen project you'd naturally expect to attract the director of Ordinary People and A River Runs Through It. The director is, speaking of attractive, Robert Redford, and lots of moviegoers are going to see what he saw in Whisperer, which he elected to direct and star in. Taking the counterview will be film critics and cosmopolites (they're not mutually exclusive) who'll balk at its indulgences. They'll have a point, but the movie is memorable anyway. Adapted from Nicholas Evans' best seller, this seductively crafted 2 3/4-hour tear-jerker is admittedly heavy on iconographic cowmen, cowwomen, cowkids and cow pies. But then, how many mean-streets melodramas must we slog through each year to get a welcome antidote? So bring on the vistas - and an equally eye-pleasing cast. Stars Robert Richardson, Kristin Scott Thomas. Hviezda, Nám. 1.mája 11, Tel.: 07-367-471. (From Oct. 1) at 15:00, 18:00, 20:30

Psychological, feminist and pessimist black comedy about a relationship between one woman and two men, as well as about violence and rape. Some of the themes loving dwelt on: life, love, pride, lust for power and domination. Quite good, actually.
