Slovak July trade deficit hits 5.499billion crowns

Slovakia's July foreign trade deficit was 5.499 billion Slovak crowns (Sk), putting the cumulative trade gap at 43.911 billion Sk for the first seven months of the year, the Statistical Bureau said on August 28. The June trade deficit was 6.13 billion crowns. Comparative data were not immediately available due to a change in methodology for 1998. Meanwhile, the current account deficit totalled 31.9 billion crowns in the January-May period of 1998, compared with a 26.01 billion crown shortfall in the same period last year, the NBS said on August 28.
