* Summer is here, offering you a chance to spend an amazing time in the spa town of Piešťany, 100 km from Bratislava. The 1st Europe Waterskiing Cup takes place from June 19-21 in the beautiful new water resort called "Ratnovská creek."Organizers are expecting top European water skiers from 14 countries to attend. You will find an electric water-ski tow (854 m long with a capacity of 300 persons/hour, one ride for 25 Sk) and sand courts for volleyball. Free parking and refreshment available at the grounds. * Children's Day - the 1st of July - is a well known event in Slovakia. Among the many activities offered is one organised by the Slovak Association of Shetland Pony Breeders. The event is called Children to Children. Children and young riders will introduce different breeds of horses in a show. They will perform exhibitions of western riding, show jumping, dressage, and hold a steeplechase, and then the children will have a horse-race. The event will be held at Motel Rybárska bašta in Rakovce, near the north Slovak town of Martin, on June 6.

* The second in a series of presentations will be held as a part of the American Perspectives series. This program is designed to give people interested in learning more about some aspects of American culture a chance to do just that. This meeting will deal with the likes of Louis Amstrong, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis - some of the great innovators of jazz. Come and learn more about history of jazz, about the influences that have shaped and changed jazz music.

Scott Taylor, from American Volunteers Overseas, along with the University Library in Bratislava, invites you to share some of your experiences on Wednesday, June 10 at 6pm. The meeting will be held in the American Studies Room at Comenius University, Michalská Street in the old town, and will conducted in English with a Slovak translation.
