ONLY SEVEN members of parliament voted March 13 in favour of increasing end-of-term bonuses for MPs from five to eight months' wages, while 17 supported an amendment giving MPs free air transport. Neither change came close to passing in the 150-seat chamber. A proposal to give MPs lifelong stipends was in the end not submitted by a group of MPs with union backgrounds, and who are near the end of their working careers.
